What’s New From DataGrail August 2024

Sammi Reinstein, September 11, 2024

August 2024 brought new AI risk detection to Live Data Map, enhanced opt-out request support, a testing feature for Consent configurations, and more.

Welcome to DataGrail’s monthly release notes! Summer is coming to an end and crisp Fall air is around the corner but just because the heat is slowing down, doesn’t mean our team is.

August brought exciting product innovations like detecting which applications are utilizing AI to reduce risk, testing your consent configuration before it goes live, and rapidly handling opt-out requests against internal systems, and much more.

New to the DataGrail Privacy Platform in August

AI risk Detection in Live Data Map | Test DataGrail Consent configuration before going live | Opt-out request support in DataGrail Agent | Updated integration statuses for DSR Direct Contact and API | UI updates to System Inventory | New and updated integrations

New AI risk detection in Live Data Map

Almost every application these days has a generative AI component, and 52% of security professionals say they are finding it difficult to safeguard confidential and personal data used by AI.

Live Data Map has been helping customers detect the entire surface area of their company’s software use, including AI systems, and now with this update, they can understand which applications are likely utilizing AI.

Customers will see a new ‘Risk Column’ in the System Inventory that will help flag potentially high-risk systems based on the personal data processed and high-risk processing use cases. Systems will then be tagged with ‘AI Detected’ in the Risk column if the system is known to have a GenAI subprocessor, is known to utilize automated decision-making technologies, or is a commonly known GenAI tool itself.

Customers can also edit and manually flag systems that utilize AI based on their organization’s specific use cases by checking “Automated Decision Making” under processing purposes.

Test DataGrail Consent configuration before going live

DataGrail Consent manages the consent settings for each tag within your Google Tag Manager containers, based on the categories assigned to each of the tags within the DataGrail app.

DataGrail Consent used to only allow publishing a live version to all containers connected to DataGrail. With this new feature, customers can test their DataGrail Consent configuration on specific containers before deploying DataGrail Consent to all sites connected to all containers.

Opt-out request support in DataGrail Agent

We understand teams want to process opt-out requests as quickly as possible with the least amount of manual work.

With this update, teams can now programmatically handle opt-out requests in their internal systems using the DataGrail Agent, allowing them to keep opt-out requests up-to-date and rapidly process opt-out requests, removing the need to process them manually in the app.

Updated integration statuses for DSR Direct Contact and API whole record deletion

When DataGrail processes a request, we update the status of the overall ticket to offer insight into the action each integration takes to find and process data.

We’ve updated the integration statuses of Direct Contact and API whole record deletion to provide more clarity for customers using these integration methods and best represent the overall data subject request workflow and actions they can take to progress integrations.

New UI updates to Live Data Map’s System Inventory

Clear All Filter in System Inventory

  • Customers can easily reset their filters in the System Inventory by selecting “Clear All” without having to individually deselect each filter they have in place.

New Inventory System Report UI

  • We’re now rolling out a new UI in the System Profile Page (previously known as the Inventory System Report). This UI update will provide a much more streamlined and consistent experience for customers, as well as allow DataGrail to build more efficient enhancements towards the customization and configuration in Live Data Map that our customers ask for.

New and updated integrations: Notion, Segment, and Amplitude

We’ve added a new third-party integration that can be utilized for automating privacy requests as well as an updated integration to support opt-out requests.

New Request Manager integration added for DSR processing: Notion

  • Notion is a connected workspace, powered by AI, that enables teams to manage daily workflows. This new Request Manager integration allows teams to search PII data via the Notion API and delete them with direct contact.

Updated integrations:

    • Opt-out support for Segment
      • Segment customers can now handle opt-out requests using our integration, suppressing the sale/share of data programmatically via Segment without deleting existing data they have.
      • Learn more about the Segment public integration and its support of opt-out requests here
  • DSR batch deletion workflow for Amplitude
    • Our updated Amplitude integration now supports the unification of identifiers from different DSR requests for the same customer and processing them using batch API requests.

That’s a wrap on August’s release notes. We love customer feedback and are always looking to improve the DataGrail platform. You can give our team feedback anytime in-app under ‘product feedback’ in the side navigation.
