What’s New from DataGrail September 2024

Sammi Reinstein, October 9, 2024

September 2024 brought enhancements to Live Data Map to help manage and mitigate risk, new personal data category filters, Advanced Google Tag Manager support, and more.

Welcome to DataGrail’s monthly release notes! Our team is constantly working to enhance our data privacy platform, and September proved to be no exception—continuing to deliver updates to make managing privacy risk even easier.

This month, we rolled out features like Advanced Consent Mode support in Google Tag Manager, new AI and sensitive data-related risk detection in System Inventory, improved search and filtering capabilities in Risk Monitor, and more. Plus, we’re gearing up for the launch of Business Process Management in Live Data Map with an exclusive beta program

Let’s get into it. 🚀

New to the DataGrail Privacy Platform in August

Support for Advanced Consent Mode in Google Tag Manager | ‘Risk Column’ Enhancements in the System Inventory Table | Filter by Personal Data Categories in the System Inventory | Search and Filter capabilities in Risk Monitor | New integration: CommerceTools | Beta program: Business Process Management

DataGrail Consent: Support for Advanced Consent Mode in Google Tag Manager

In September, our team took on a common challenge facing our customers and their consent management—preserving the marketing team’s ability to measure and attribute website goals while still protecting user privacy.

We’re excited to announce that DataGrail Consent now supports Advanced Consent Mode in Google Tag Manager. This means all Google-specific services will fire in an anonymous way, with no PII passed in the request allowing you to maintain valuable marketing insights while adhering to data privacy best practices.

It’s a win-win solution that doesn’t force you to choose between marketing effectiveness and privacy compliance.

Live Data Map: New ‘Risk Column’ enhancements in the System Inventory table

At DataGrail, we’re always finding new ways to improve how you can manage and mitigate risk. Our latest enhancement to the Risk Column in the System Inventory Table helps customers identify high-risk systems that have the potential for risky processing activities.

Now, the Risk Column will flag systems likely to process Sensitive Personal Information (SPI), such as healthcare data or Social Security numbers, as well as systems likely to involve AI usage.

We’ve also introduced three distinct AI-related categories that are now highlighted under “AI Detected”:

  • Automated Decision Making: Systems likely to employ automated decision-making technologies.
  • AI Subprocessors: Systems that might have AI subprocessors with access to your organization’s personal data.
  • GenAI Tools: Known generative AI tools such as OpenAI or Anthropic.

Customers will have the ability to filter the system inventory by “Risk Type.” Learn more about this update here

Live Data Map: Filter by personal data categories in the System Inventory

This new update to the system inventory allows customers to filter systems by specific personal data categories being processed across their organization.

In the ‘Personal Data’ column, you’ll see a summary of the number of personal data categories each system processes. By hovering over the chip, you can view the specific types of personal data being handled.

We’ve also added a ‘Personal Data’ filter at the top of the system inventory table, which allows you to filter systems based on specific personal data categories, enabling them to quickly identify systems that may require extra attention due to the type of personal data they process.

This update is only available to customers who’ve migrated to the new System Inventory UI. Read more about this in our docs here

Risk Monitor: New search and filter capabilities

Managing a high volume of assessments just got easier. With our latest update, customers can now search for assessments by name, or filter by status and template type in Risk Monitor, giving you more control over how you organize and sort through your assessments.

New integration: CommerceTools

We’ve added a new integration with CommerceTools. Customers can now automatically handle access/deletion requests for Commerce Tools.

Coming Soon: Business Process Management in Live Data Map

We are excited to introduce a new feature soon in Live Data Map—Business Process Management.

This update will go beyond the traditional systems-oriented view, giving customers the flexibility to manage privacy risks at the business process and departmental levels. This allows for a more comprehensive view of your privacy program, helping you better manage risk across your organization.

📣 We’re currently looking for customers to participate in the Business Process Management Beta, running from October 15 to November 15. By joining, you’ll get early access to this feature and the opportunity to provide feedback that will directly influence how we continue to enhance the product. Email [email protected] to join the beta.

That’s a wrap on September’s release notes. We love customer feedback and are always looking to improve the DataGrail platform. You can give our team feedback anytime in-app under ‘product feedback’ in the side navigation.

For questions, please reach out directly to your CSM or email [email protected]. If you’d like a demo of the DataGrail platform, reach out to us here

Until next time. 👋
